At the AIPH’s Annual General Meeting, in Padova, Italy, on 19th September 2018, the  27 member nations voted to endorse moving the Australis 6-month Expo event license from 2020 to 2022.

This ongoing show of support acknowledges the Australis World Green Expo initiative as representing the first time in the AIPH’s  70 year history, the event is being proposed:

  • in the Southern Hemisphere (and Australia), and
  • as a private sector led initiative, based on a Public Private Partnership model to support government deliver the event.

The move to 2022 comes after several months of negotiations with both:

  • the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) and Industry bodies, to agree a suitable time frame within which to deliver an international event of this magnitude, and
  • the AIPH, to find a 6 month window in the next decade of back to back expo events already approved.

“Having finally secured both SOPA support to allocate the land and collaborate on delivering the event, and an agreed timeline with the AIPH, we can now move forward with confidence to build a unique global event, all Australian can be proud of”, Mr Haggart said.
