Australis Update – AIPH Annual Congress 2018
Mr Steven Haggart, Founder and Managing Director of ‘Australis’ presented at the 70th Annual AIPH Congress in Padova, northern Italy 18-20th September 2018, to provide member nations with an update on progress.
Key messages included the :
- Sydney Olympic Parks Authority (SOPA) Board’s endorsement of a Heads of Agreement to host Australis in the SOPA precinct and collaborate on delivering the 6 month Expo event;
- Establishment of the Australis 7-person Steering Committee
- Stakeholder Consultation Strategy about to get underway
- Proposal to move the license from 2020 to 2022 (part of the terms, agreed with SOPA).
The presentation was one of seven (7) given by different countries committed to hosting Expo’s over coming years, including Taiwan (2018/9), China (2019 + 2021), Qatar (2021/2), Netherlands (2022), Turkey (2023) and Poland (2024).
Presentations were followed by the AIPH 70th Anniversary Gala Diner, with several speeches honouring those who have played pivotal roles, in making the AIPH the globally recognised peak body for the horticultural sector and world authority for Green Expo’s.
